How to get rid of cooking smells.
Cooking usually leaves behind strong odors especially when ingredients like fish , locust beans, greasy (oily) foods….. are involved. These strong smells can be choking; they usually linger on long after cooking is done with , they even become stale and unpleasant after a while. They are most especially embarrassing when we have to entertain guests not so long after cooking.
However , here are a few things you can do to curb and get rid of these after cooking smells Place bowls of baking soda /white vinegar at various spots around the kitchen overnight after cooking; these would absorb the odor.
- Boil nice smelling spices (like ginger, grapefuit / lemon/ orange peels, cinnamon sticks and cloves) in water, these give off nice aromas that will in turn absorb the residual smell from cooking.
- Turn on one or more scented candles ; scented candles usually come with nice fragrances that can replace unpleasant smells.
- Clean up immediately you finish up with cooking to reduce grease and oil build up.
- Ventilation – Open up windows for cross ventilation before and after cooking, air conditioners and air purifiers are also a good way to get rid of bad smells.
We hope these help you reclaim your homes from strong smells that come from cooking the delicious meals you love !
