Here’s a couple of ways (aside baking) Baking soda can be used in the kitchen

  1. Baking soda when mixed with warm water can be used to remove tea and coffee stains from the inside of mugs and coffee makers.
  2. Baking soda can be made into paste with cold water and used to remove surface rusts, its can also be used this way to remove stains on marble counter tops in the kitchen.
  3. Baking soda is a natural deodorizer, it can be used to get rid of unpleasant/ stale odors in refrigerators, lunch boxes, waterbottles ……. *For refrigerators simply place a box of baking soda in the fridge, the baking soda absorbs the odors over time. * for lunch boxes; sprinkle the baking soda on a damp sponge and use to wipe inside it. * In water bottles, put some water in the bottle, add in some baking powder, shake the bottle vigorously , pour out water then rinse bottle thoroughly.
  4. Wipe off grease spills in the kitchen using baking soda ; simply sprinkle baking soda on affected area, then clean up with wet warm kitchen towel.
  5.  To get rid of clogs that may affect free flow of water in kitchen sinks; pour scoops of baking soda into the kitchen drain, add in some white vinegar, leave to rest for some minutes , then flush out the sink with hot water. This should dissolve build up of clog deposits in the pipes, this might not be able to totally dissolve stubborn clogs though.
  6. Baking soda can be used to wash stinky sponges to get rid of the smell.
